ABOUT POWER EFFICIENCY CORPORATION
Power Efficiency develops and markets energy efficiency technologies for electric motors. Electric motors consume approximately 2/3 of the electricity used in manufacturing, and millions of motors a year power our industrial processes, commercial buildings, appliances, and more. But many motors operate inefficiently. Power Efficiency’s technology attacks this wasted energy, with typical energy savings of 15-40% in appropriate applications.
Patented and Patent-Pending Technology
Power Efficiency’s technology platform, called E-Save Technology® reduces the amount of electricity used by lightly loaded motors operating at a constant speed. Based on technology originally licensed from NASA, Power Efficiency has developed critical patented and patent-pending improvements to this technology to improve energy savings and other functionality.
Products and Applications
Power Efficiency has historically sold analog-based motor efficiency controllers primarily for escalator and granulator applications. Under all new management, in 2006 the Company embarked on a substantial development program to improve the Company’s technology and create all new products with much greater commercial viability. These two new products are:
- Three Phase Digital Product (Industrial Product): For three phase motors up to 380 amps (300 horsepower), this product is targeted at motors in grinders, granulators, mixers, conveyors, crushers, saws, stamping presses, escalators, elevators, and many other commercial and industrial applications.
- Single Phase Digital Product (Appliance Product) – For single phase motors less than 2 horsepower, this product is targeted at appliances and light commercial equipment, such as clothes dryers and washers, refrigeration, air conditioning and shop tools.
Sales and Marketing
Three Phase Motor Efficiency Controller
Motor Efficiency Controllers save energy on numerous applications. However, for the Three Phase Product the Company is initially focusing sales efforts on three target markets:
- Vertical Transportation (escalators and elevators)
- Plastics (plastic granulators), and
- Rock-Related (crushers, conveyors, bucket elevators and more in the mining, cement, concrete and aggregate industries).
In each of these target markets, Power Efficiency’s goal is to:
- Drive initial demand from direct sales to end users. These organizations pay the electric bills and have the “pain” solved by Power Efficiency’s E-Save Technology.
- Engage high volume sales channels, such as Original Equipment Manufacturers, distributors and reps, focused on these target markets.
Power Efficiency’s ultimate goal is to be a technology company, selling Motor Efficiency Controllers and licensing valuable E-Save Technology to high volume sales channels.
Single Phase Motor Efficiency Controller
This product is targeted at manufacturers of appliances, commercial equipment and single phase motors, for installation at the factory where these products are made.
Power Efficiency has partnered with IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ: IXYS) for the sale and supply of Single Phase Motor Efficiency Controllers.
Manufacturing
Power Efficiency manufactures some Motor Efficiency Controllers at facilities in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Company also works with Sanmina-SCI (NASDAQ: SANM), a multi-billion dollar global contract electronics manufacturer, for high volume production so that Power Efficiency can quickly increase capacity and provide customers with the highest quality production capabilities.
Independent Board of Directors
More than half of Power Efficiency’s directors are independent. These directors include present and former deans of leading academic institutions and highly accomplished business people.
Insider Investment & Ownership
Management is the largest investor and shareholder in the company and many independent members of Power Efficiency’s board of directors have also invested in the Company. Our interests are aligned with shareholders.
