Power Efficiency Expands Its Motor Efficiency Controller Product Line, Features and Certifications
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Power Efficiency Corporation (OTCBB: PEFF - News), a clean tech company focused on energy efficiency technologies for electric motors, announced today the extension of its 3 Phase Motor Efficiency Controller product line to support higher power motors, as well as the completion of additional critical certifications.
The Motor Efficiency Controller product family is based on the patented E-Save Technology®, which can provide energy savings of up to 35% in appropriate constant speed and variably loaded applications using AC induction motors. In addition to energy savings, the Motor Efficiency Controller is a solid state motor controller with a soft start and electronic motor protection.
With the addition of three new frames to the product family, the 3 Phase Motor Efficiency Controller with E-Save Technology® can now provide energy savings to AC induction motors rated up to 300 horsepower. These additions to the Motor Efficiency Controller product family are targeted for applications in the mining, cement, recycling, plastics and other industrial markets.
These three new frames were recently certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to meet all of the requirements of a solid-state motor controller. UL certification is required by many customers, so this certification enlarges the potential customer base for the Company’s products.
These new frames are controlled by a high performance digital signal processor (DSP), which contains most of the Company’s proprietary algorithms. Incorporating a DSP expands the potential for additional features and functionality to be developed into the Motor Efficiency Controllers. The Company believes one of the most valuable features will be for each Motor Efficiency Controller to communicate critical information in real time over the Internet. As such, the Company has added an optional Ethernet interface to these frames and has released a new version of its motor control software, called MECAssistant.
The Company believes many customers will want to have many types of critical information communicated over internal or external networks, possibly including data on energy use, energy savings, CO2 emissions, motor diagnostics and more. The Company’s first generation digital Motor Efficiency Controller communicated through a Serial port to a computer, but with Ethernet communications, this data can be sent directly through wired or wireless communications directly to corporate networks.
In addition to releasing three new frames for larger horsepower motors, the entire Motor Efficiency Controller product line, from 15 to 300 horsepower, was expanded to include an IP00 rating and IP65/NEMA 4X. The IP00 rated product is designed for OEM’s and end users that have existing motor control cabinets, while the IP65/NEMA 4X product is rated for standalone applications that need protection against water, dust and corrosion typically seen in outdoor installations.
“With this expansion of the Motor Efficiency Controller family, we are now able to provide a complete product family to meet the needs of our customers.” said Steven Strasser, Power Efficiency’s Chairman and CEO. “We are excited to provide our customers with solutions to reduce energy usage and operating costs. In early sales of these products customers are seeing significant energy reduction and other benefits from the use of the Motor Efficiency Controller in constant speed and variable load applications. We are particularly excited about the additional communications capabilities that have been incorporated into our new frames of controllers and the additional potential functionality we are able to include, such as providing customers with information on emissions reductions. I believe this additional functionality will make our products more valuable as customers seek both energy use and carbon emission reductions.”
About Power Efficiency Corporation
Power Efficiency Corporation is a clean tech company focused on efficiency technologies for electric motors. Power Efficiency is incorporated in Delaware and is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Company has developed a patented and patent-pending technology platform, called E-Save Technology, which has been demonstrated in independent testing to improve the efficiency of electric motors by up to 35% in appropriate applications. Electric motors consume over 25% of the electricity in the U.S. and many operate inefficiently. E-Save Technology can be licensed to motor, controls and equipment manufacturers. Power Efficiency’s products, based on E-Save Technology, include an Industrial Motor Efficiency Controller for three phase applications, such as escalators, crushers, granulators, mixers, saws and MG elevators, and a new Appliance Motor Efficiency Controller for small single phase applications such as residential and light commercial appliances.
